Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Hi Mickchip; thanks for the clarification on the date/time impact to DashCommand. I have it runnig now as well. (Although I only get rpm reading via OBDII Bluethooth -do you know, if this is due to the fact that it is a demo version? No milesperhour aso) Another question to this build: I can run it ...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Mickchip - 1 additional question:
Does DashCommand work for you?
It does for me in the VM, but oddly not on the Joggler:
The splash video shows and than nothing. No Error - nothing.
Strange...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Hi Mickchip; thanks for the feedback. Another problem on my end again then.... After uninstalling and reinstalling VM Virtual Box (+ Extension Pack), your image shows USB2.0 for me as well.... I am in the process of copying it on the Joggler Stick - however I can probably only judge with a faster st...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Jogglerhase , if you can be bothered you should be able to get a replacement free of charge for the Lexar ; I've had two replaced no problem (not Lexar ) . The actual SSD with adapter works the best for me but it's big ha ha . I think for the Zif they are using it needs a bit soldered on to the boa...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Hi all I'm still here, having trouble with the new build. I can get it to boot sometimes and others it just sticks on the starting windows screen, when I can get it consistent I will let you know. Booting it from a zif ssd works every time, also booting it on my Samsung Q1 Ultra through USB works e...

... and I can confirm after 3 days excercising the Joggler in the car that the above power setup works without a glitch. Now let's see when Mickchip comes back, so we all can hopefully continue tinkering soon! :-) .... Still no more crank-related crashes - the powersupply is fine now. However: My O...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Thanks for the feedback, Pete. I try to keep cost at a minimum, so thats why I don't want to use a 'real' carPC powersupply. (Also, we only need 5V - no regulated 12V) Anyway - I think I have my setup *finally* working now. No more glitches seen on Arduino; Joggler boots fine during engine cranking ...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

The sure bet way might be to install a tank battery which is charged by the car's main battery and then have the Joggler do a shutdown when the car is powered off. That and writing a rom to the nic would work as it will always error out when booting even if you do not use it. Hi Pete; I am a native...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

I think we will need some cap. I finally managed to trace the voltage drop when cranking the engine! It is so short that my initial Arduino setup did not catch it. Now I changed the code to do some quicker sampling - and I catched it - see graph. The voltage drops down to 0 Volts - even though I add...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler- power supply

Before anybody tries to replicate my 'success': Here is an update reg. Joggler 5 Volt power supply in a car: My setup still does not work reliable - Joggler still crashes occasionally when cranking the car engine.... What I found out: These 'Super caps' (Goldcaps, ...) I am using have a too high int...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Hi everyone; just wanted to share that I bought a 'real' USB SSD stick for trying again to run Mickchips Navi XP via coreboot. -> Still - no success. :-( Although I could confirm that it is a 'real' USB SSD and not a std. USB memory stick: 2 partitions on the stick were accessible on my windows mach...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Thanks for sharing that diagram , is there any logic to the capacitors ? or is it just the bigger the better ? Also are your ferrite cores wrapped around the live , neutral or both ? I ordered some mini fuses with live wires attatched as i dont want to tamper with the vehicle :-) They have arrived ...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

....as stated earlier, 2000µF was not enough for me. Maybe using ferrite cores like in the picture in the 12 and 5 Volt line will help, but I did not do enough testing. 61o7Pw9-umL._SL256_.jpg Well, it didn't help.... still occasional crashes when cranking the car.... Now, I ordered one of these: h...

Re: Satelite Navigation on the Joggler

Nice work Heiner , thanks for sharing , that fits in great .Have you a photo of the capacitor work you have done ? I am a bit green with car electronics , obviously the red wire comes from the fuse , does the black just attach to the car body ? I know I could look this up elsewhere ha ha but just a...
