Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Dan, FyodorNinian - I had no issues writing the image to an 8Gb USB stick using USB Image tool. Downloaded and installed on slowest 8Gb USB stick I have. A Kingston DataTraveler. 1 - Booted quickly from external USB port by itself. Went to desktop just fine. No touch screen response though. Similiar...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Dan,
I initially install it to a USB memory stick to see the speed before putting it on something else.

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Great news Dan! What was the issue with the speaker? Relating to the NIC card; the original included drivers didn't work. This following linked drivers worked with the WLAN installed card or not installed. http://download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/driver/mb/lan/12ia_lan_WinXP.zip 1 - removed old NIC driv...

Re: HEY Look at these Possable internal SSD for the Joggler

No; but what are the dimensions of the space you have marked as SSD? I have miniature 4 port USB hub and some "wires" with just the female ends of the USB ports; very small footprint; from playing with the Asus Netbook. My preference would be to put the Lenova Keyboard/Mouse dongle inside ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Dan, Great news on the image. The Joggler is easy to open. Remove the label at the bottom of the Joggler in the back. There are four screws there. Remove the 4 screws. Use a plastic card/credit card and fit it between the bottom loose piece of the cover on the right and on the left; work the plastic...

Re: release: jogglerxp foshiz edition (image up)plus revised

Well; kind of interesting about this. One of the Jogglers will remain on my desk as the "test" device; not really for use in "production" but rather to "play" with relating to Buzz's Ubuntu image, Android image and XP image. There is no other device today that I know of...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

The USB SSD would not fit inside of the Joggler by about 1-2 mm on one side. So I busted it out of the little case. Fits perfect. Faster than the microdrive booting now. Very impressed. Whats nice is that you can get a 16 or 32 Gb SSD for a bit more and do a multiOS boot from it modifying the EFI a ...

Re: HEY Look at these Possable internal SSD for the Joggler

I recieved my 8Gb SSD USB stick today. Its about twice the size of a regular USB memory stick. Will post RW results to it once configured. It comes up as an SSD drive when plugged into the USB hub.

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

I was able to get the speed up on the internal flash memory stick. Today though got the USB SSD stick. It is recognized as a drive instead of flash memory. Its about twice the size of a regular flash memory stick but it'll fit inside of the Joggler. If this performs as good or similiar to the microd...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Testing the 8Gb USB stick; noticed after a few hours it got really slow. The "real" microdrive did not slow like this after running overnight. It could be the way that I configured the USB flash drive in the Joggler. It was configured to be recognized as a Hitachi Microdrive on the configu...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Thanks Dan. It'll make it a bit easier to play with a wintel (whichever one) PE configuration. Just testing an 8Gb USB (a faster one; but not SSD) inside of the Joggler instead of the microdrive. Its suitable to use. Next will try leaving some applications to run and see how they do. I put a 5 secon...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

I've gotten used to playing around with the microdrive and seeing both partitions; IE: EFI and NTFS. Looking today I found a way to make your USB stick "appear" as a hard drive. Once this is done you can create the two partitions (EFI-FAT32 and the NTFS) with something like GParted. Once d...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Dan, Ran target analyzer and posted results in one of the first XP posts somewhere here. The only thing is that there's a whole bunch of USB devices on it that I tried; keyboards, mice, USB hubs, drives and USB sticks. I do stay more away in front of a keyboard though...its like a dinner with my wif...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Yeah; the enjoyment of it all is just getting it to work. Comparing an customized application (with TTS et al) I found after installing .net, flash etc, TTS, on and on ...the speed of the embedded was just about the same. (XPE, XPSP3, W7 and W2003) I acually liked W7 starter package over the W7 Ulti...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

jimeny, I installed Ultra VNC client / server on the XP image I am using. It works well. Use RDP but like VNC better. For the Chumby Touchscreens I use VNC and the frame buffer to monitor them. I build one touchscreen with 4 framebuffer pictures to show live status. I'm using the little bitty Lenova...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Yesterday noticed when I plugged it a USB hub the Joggler thought it was another video monitor. Never saw this before. Personally just testing the audio as I have a distributed 12 zones of audio in the house; so I really only use local audio a little bit. IE: I use it today for a little 3.5" Ch...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Dan, Tried to the command line options in the new Joggler brightness/dimness program. Works well. Running the application in the start up folder of XP it needs a delay as its running before the OS has completed the loading process and erroring out. So I put it in a batch file instead. Its just using...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Kind of thinking that I could leave the microdrive inside of the primary "test" Joggler and do a multiboot EFI from the EFI partition; initially manually modifying it.
