Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Mevi, Its very hit or miss getting it to boot with the internal NIC. It remains an issue to be resolved. I have the WLAN card removed on one of the Jogglers. My preference will be to run the Joggler with the Internal USB SSD card and no wireless. I've attached pictures showing version of NIC driver....

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Great news Dan. Just an FYI. I do an internal time sync via an NTP server connected to a GPS; specifically Tardis on a W2003 server. I did notice today both the W2003 and XP changed time; even though I have the time service off (I thought I did). So downloaded both XP and W2003 time patches. Both wo...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

noodles2K, There is a driver posted somewhere here that I found to work "most" of the time. It creates an odd MAC address if you don't configure one for it when there is no WLAN card in place. The driver is not the most currently posted one from the Realtek site but rather an older one for...

Re: Joggler as a firewall

Personally I like Smoothwall. You may be able to utilize the Smoothwall ISO. I'm running SW today on a Netier overclocked to 600Mhz via an AMD CPU with 512 Mb. The application is running off an IDE connected 4Gb CF drive. Its been running fine for "years" now. Doesn't take much to run it; ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Thanks Dan. Its difficult though to power cycle the NIC as it may be using the voltage on the wire (network cable) or the standby motherboard voltage. So I'm thinking maybe that the boot thinks the NIC is booting from scratch when in fact the NIC is just asleep and needs to be waken? This is just a ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Yeah; for the firmware upgrade it would have to be done in DOS and its very much hands on. Ideally it would have to be some boot image that would autoload the firmware; but yes a keyboard error or power disconnect would toast / brick the NIC; which makes it very invasive. I think its all related to ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Welcome back Dan. Still waiting on the rest of my SSD USB drives. Meanwhile testing now with one in one Joggler sans WLAN card and two Jogglers with the WLAN card. Still seeing the on and off again internal NIC booting / recognition thing. I do have the Jogglers now connected to Gb links. It seems t...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Thanks noodles2k. Found the devcon command here for download. http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/1/f/11f7dd10-272d-4cd2-896f-9ce67f3e0240/devcon.exe The devcon find on one of the Jogglers shows (and I am wondering if they will all be different, similar or the same) PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&am...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Thanks Mevi. I am getting better cold/warm reboot HW NIC thing with the WLAN USB stick inside of the Joggler than not present in the Joggler. Instead of making up new MAC's I'm just using the MAC address from the WLAN cards. I'm currently testing now with 1 Joggler without the USB WLAN card and 2 Jo...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

I think the issue with the NIC is related to the power saving "stuff". There is some power on the NIC still when you unplug the Joggler. That though is my best guess combing through some google searches and specfically with the Realtek NIC card / drivers and specfically to Wintel. The NIC ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

There is still an ethernet "problem" which requires some manual intervention; which is a PITA. The last reboot it stayed at the crcdisk.sys; so I tried unplugging the now Gb connected interface for a second or two; then plugged it back in; and it booted via the NIC. I would indeed like to ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Yes it was the 90's and initially a race between IBM OS2 and Windows 95; who was going to win. IBM OS2 initially got out of the door first; but totally plagued with driver issues; I remember have to look and find drivers for sound , video, etc; difficult at the time. Windows 95 came and ran circles ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

Most if not all of the memory sticks that I have tried have worked fine with the Joggler. Some boot all the time and some do not. I have a similiar issues with my Sheevaplus running Uboot to boot external USB sticks. Some work all the time and others do not. Sometimes I have to telnet to the base ru...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

So far testing the 8 Gb USB SSD in "production" I don't notice lags / bursts of stuff that I noticed with the flash drive. But that might be me. To me how it worked was beneficial to the countless of a variety of memory sticks that I tried / used from 4-16GB. It seems to perform on par wit...

Re: Windows Server 2003 RELEASED

I have some PS's here too that I will not be using. I can send you one.

BTW it's a bit odd but found Open Peak US power supplies here new in the same box as the UK Joggler ones came in; discounted by a discount electronic house.

Re: new Android 2.2.2 Mijuu Build 1.2.3

Thank-you jp_hero. I didn't know about flash/android/intel. I do recall sometime last year having an issue with Flash with Debian Linux / Arch linux on the Seagate Dockstar (SheevaPlug) (Arm CPU). Its time for Adobe to wake up. Don't know though. MS not too long ago reflected a bit about eliminating...

Dan,

Good news about the update.

Not so good news about the Joggler; hopefully its just a PS thing.
