Re: clean install fails

Hmm, thanks for this @joggy - I don't immediately spot anything terrible in the build logs, could you try an earlier release?

Re: 2021 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022!!!

Aw, that's lovely, @pete - when we were doing video calls I was thinking about whether we could get a TV big enough to make it feel like there was just another room. Thankfully I came off worst in this house, my daughter got some sniffles and my wife was a bit ill for a few days. Knocked me si...

Aw, thanks everyone! :)

I could "see" the virus approaching - other half works in the NHS and young 'un's at primary school, so it was only a matter of time. :?

Re: Box differences

I've only ever seen those two for the Joggler. The one with the jazzy neon symbols was definitely later... I thought the "Coming soon" buttons were amusing. :)

Merry Christmas all! I'm battling a real dose of this darn virus at the moment, so even typing takes remarkable effort.

Thank goodness for my 5G injections earlier in the year! ;)

I swear, I'll have Debian images in 2022. Honest.

Re: Joggler nas box

That's a shame the joggler looks ideal for that sort of thing. It works great (especially with its gigabit ethernet) if all you need it to do is serve content from a drive to a client, just as a classic NAS fileserver would. However, server software such as Plex has a fair overhead and will try to ...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

I've updated the build system to produce a kernel 3.16 version of the image every 30 days now, while the kernel 5.4 version continues to monitor the 5.4 releases. This should keep us with fully up-to-date images; with the recent root certificate expiries the 3.16 images were falling further behind i...

I'm not sure we've got a copy of one that "recent" - any chance we could get a copy to add to the collection?

Last one I have for the OF2 is 30291.

Re: How to break in / enable telnet on a OpenPeak 2 / Telio Touch with disabled USB boot and telnet

As an aside, I also have ended up doing something that may turn out to be daft, I now own openpeak.net . The reason behind this was simple, this hack exposes a really simple way to force a potentially unknown payload onto any stock or semi stock devices out in the wild still (and I suspect there is...

Re: SqueezePlay for OpenFrame

I built a new USB stick with 3.16 and installed Squeezeplay but no updates. Do you mean updates to SqueezePlay itself? No, since compiling that last version there've been no other changes. I must revisit the 3.16 image and update the packages though; as new kernels are no longer being released unde...

Yeah, that's the one. It'll need a minor upgrade if I integrate those ALSA settings at some point.

Re: SqueezePlay for OpenFrame

I don't use it as a LMS server any longer Best way, I'm not sure I've written any installer for LMS in the latest version because I don't think the server-and-client-in-one gives a particularly good experience. The Joggler's more than powerful enough to handle the client work, but the server can ma...

2) And a side topic: There is still this 'turning background light off' issue. ralphy in the Slimdevices Forum seems to have a method to fix that; see here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110040-Jivelite-on-a-Joggler&p=1027289&viewfull=1#post1027289 However, that was aimed at...

So I have now got the old betting shop one with no stand booting to white screen . So the fault followed the EFI chip? If that's the case you can hot-swap the EFI and use dd to write a fresh copy of the firmware to it. There's a bunch of them here . If you get the working one going with the EFI soc...

Re: Ubuntu Emergency Mode on Expansion

Relating to Kernel 5.4... ALSA in Kernel 5.4 does not auto-detect audio jack hotplugging. Sigh, I reckon that one will have got the better of me. Can't count the number of hours I've spent tinkering, trying to get that working. Old kernel still works best for me. Yeah, unless you're putting a Joggl...

Re: SqueezeplayerOS: "Due to Rights Restrictions..."

Certainly a BBC thing. They've been very focused on delivering content through BBC Sounds rather than open delivery methods like RSS or plain MP3 feeds. That's why there is more exclusive content on their app which can't be found elsewhere. The reasons behind it make some sense, as they can use the ...
