Re: Solder header onto Joggler PATA port
1, Does it work? Yes. https://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/Adding_a_PATA_port 2, the zif cable and socket is 0.5mm size, right? It is a standard 40 pin zif cable and the ends were flipped that I am using. 3, if I can install squeezeplayOS with this SSD installed? Yes. I have to check my Ubuntu / SSD Ope...

Re: Mosquitto - MQTT
Update 06th of April, 2022 Still tinkering with Home Assistant and MQTT here. Been updating many ESP based devices over to Tasmota which works well these days. 1 - switched my legacy 1-Wire network over to a hub and spoke temperature / humidity sensors network 2 - installed combo light / fan switch...

Re: A question to the experts
I have the smaller Asus Eee PC 900 series here still not used in a long time. It dual booted to XP and Ubuntu Linux. Let me look at it. I used to use it a lot when traveling a few years back. There used to be an Asus Eee PC forum with all sorts of modes to it. Personally here upgraded the RAM and ex...

Re: Solder header onto Joggler PATA port
could I just solder a PATA port on joggler board and use a cable to connect it to a real ZF SSD card? Yes. I have 15 of these in 15 running Windows XPe for my touchscreen automation using Seabios. Boots fine from SSD. Fits nicely with original wireless USB stick. Soldering the ZIF clip has been doc...

Re: New SSD for Joggler-Openpeak
Originally the company wanted to send me a new ZIF clip to solder on. Then I said no and they wanted me to ship the SSD back to them. The ZIF clip is so flimsy that you cannot flip over the lock on a very thin zif cable. Here noticed that the USPS would not let me ship to China via a FAQ on the USPS...

New SSD for Joggler-Openpeak
My Openpeak Jogglers today are all using 16 Gb SSD drives for Linux (EFI) and Windows (Seabios).
Last week found these being sold and going to give one a test run.

So via command line redid the build...IE: didn't want to build the stick from scratch...
1 - of-install build
2 - of-install squeezeplay
I did not do an update or upgrade after the above.
htop and top show
695 squeeze+ 20 0 8488 3104 2880 S 0.7 0.6 0:01.90 jive_alsa

Re: clean install fails
So after the update above noticed that it would not boot to Squeezeplay.
Then I noticed I had no default users configured except for squeezeplay.
Manually installed squeezeplay script and rebooted.
Boots to a command line prompt.

Re: clean install fails
Here switched over to using an external USB stick rather than the internal eMMC. Its been fine running Squeezeplayer and I haven't looked at it much relating to upgrading. I did this morning and see the same: ln: failed to create hard link '/boot/initrd.img-3.16.85op.dpkg-bak' => '/boot/initrd.img-3...

Re: 2021 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022!!!
Here the week before Christmas one grade school grandchild (10) became sick with mild symptoms. Son, wife, 2 boys and 1 girl all tested positive a few days later. In 2021 grandson's school went to remote learning which only lasted a month or two and did not work then school went to in school classes...

Re: Joggler nas box
Relating to NAS building here have DIY'd two NAS boxes over on the Serve the Home forum. Both are similar but in different cases. If interested will repost my builds here. They are both running BSD XigmaNAS (a split off from FreeNAS) One case is a Silverstone DS380 and the other a custom smaller 8 d...

Re: Looking for original app*.tgz firmware file / help to boot from USB
All I can write here is to keep trying. I have only done this less than 5 times in many many years. I have hot swapped the rom chip once only on one Joggler. BTW there are three different Jogglers out there in Internetlandia: 1 - original O2 Joggler 2 - Openpeak (labeled) device which resembles an O...

Re: Looking for original app*.tgz firmware file / help to boot from USB
Are there some ROMs that doesn't boot on some devices? Does the ROM even matter as long as the EFI doesn't even seem to recognize the USB stick? I have seen the 1Mb boot roms get trashed maybe once. I would keep trying different USB sticks. I only mentioned the keyboard cuz some were different than...

Re: Looking for original app*.tgz firmware file / help to boot from USB
Here over the years have had similar issues. Is the boot rom on the motherboard socketed or soldered in to place? I would try different USB sticks and utilize a manual USB keyboard and kept blind typing. I too have have modded one Openframe 2 with a second USB port from the camera traces. Maybe try ...
