Yes Tom, the switch to Coreboot/SeaBIOS will knock a good amount off the total boot time. The EFI takes a lot longer to do it's thing before XP even starts it's boot.

This might not be the news you want to hear on you Christmas holidays, but we've seen a few of these wrong power supply stories and I've yet to see one that ended well for the user. It sounds like the screen may be salvageable, but I suspect a fried motherboard.
