Ah, great stuff! Thanks, @hawsey, that's very kind. I think you might have my details already... maybe? If not just give me a shout.

And thanks, Jim - best of luck in your new home! :)

Re: Finally cracked it!

Got a couple of hours to mess with Debian Bullseye this evening. Up-to-date builds should now begin appearing here and they are working pretty well. Kernel 5.10.117 is the first to be auto-built for Debian Bullseye and Ubuntu Bionic builds will continue for the foreseeable future, though I'll not be...

Re: 6 x Joggler, 2 x Telstra w/ DECT phone and 1 x OpenPeak 2 free to collector

As per the title, I have 6 x Normal Jogglers (2 x power supplies) plus 2 x the Joggler that comes with a DECT phone and 1 x the larger format Joggler (OpenPeak 2.0 I think). I've been looking for the Jogglers that came with DECT phones for the entire time I've been doing Joggler stuff. Never had on...

You'll need to install xserver too, it's available in of-install. Give that a whirl and see if you can fire Kodi up after that.

No promises it'll run smoothly due to the lack of OpenGL mentioned above, but worth a try.

Re: Finally cracked it!

I am good now except for a bit of crackle. That's interesting, I wonder if anything has changed in the latest kernel release because that behaviour is exactly what I observed as being fixed now. What EFI/BIOS were you using? In alsamixer there should be an option for muting... I think it's Line Out...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & SQPOS)

Could you pls adivse me what's wrong here? Many tks! Sorry, I've just realised this is the old SqueezePlay for Joggler thread! I really wouldn't advise you use this these days. Try downloading the base operating system instead and running sudo of-install squeezeplay instead. That should get things ...

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame

Hi Roobarb, I am truly a newbie for Joggler and this fourm. I regret to know both of them so late. Better late than never! ;) I reflashed your sqpOS303 and also EDO version for Joggler, veru happy to have a alternative for STB with such low cost. I am currently working on making Joggler a cheaper S...

Re: Finally cracked it!

I think I know the answer given the infamy of the GM500, but I'll ask anyway because why not, what's situation with hardware acceleration of graphics and video playback? Sadly unchanged. The GMA500 is a PowerVR based GPU and I get the impression that it's the licensing between Intel and Imagination...

Re: Finally cracked it!

Come to think of it, a quicker way of getting something useful into people's hands may simply be to update the build system for kernel 5.10 and have it create Bionic images in the meantime. Ha, maybe should have thought of that earlier. A few tweaks later and the build system is hopefully putting t...

Re: Finally cracked it!

does the latest openframe ubuntu image downloadable from your site (dated 06-Feb-2022) include the fix to the annoying crackling sound coming from the speaker? Yes, it does solve that! Though not on the Ubuntu image, it'll be a Debian Bullseye image as Bionic is the last Ubuntu release to fully sup...

Re: Finally cracked it!

Hey, thank you, you're very welcome! Can't tell you how pleased I am to get us away from kernel 3.16 at last. :) Okay, when I have more brain power (somewhat lacking this evening) I'll look to switch from "full jive" to jivelite. The squeezelite backend is available straight through apt on...

Re: Jogglers for Sale Wiltshire, UK.

Thank you! That's awesome they've been working well for you, hopefully they'll enjoy a new life elsewhere. :) I use Apple Music a lot now and zap audio to my Jogglers via AirPlay these days. Not many people have picked up on this, but there is this thing I made years ago which basically runs the Jog...

How funny, this is just the information I was looking for... weird. 8-)

So is this the done thing these days? Jivelite + background player (ie. squeezelite)?

Re: Finally cracked it!

IIRC, the latest, snazziest way of using Logitech Media Server and Squeezeplay was to run a "de-jived" version of Squeezeplay and use the UI to control the squeezelite process running in the background. Is this still The Way, or has a new method taken precedence in the meantime? If I end u...

Re: Finally cracked it!

Thanks, everyone. Backlight driver and ambient light sensor are both working again now too. 8-) There've been a bunch of changes that are messing up the of-* scripts at the moment, so I'll be working on those next. However, if anybody is particularly keen to have a play the version I've just compil...

Finally cracked it!

For a very long time the OpenFrame images haven't been able to move on from the 3.16 kernel branch due to an annoying issue with ALSA that has prevented audio hot-plugging from working. Well, to be fair, it's an annoying issue with how the STAC9202 chip is wired up in the Joggler / OpenFrame 1, but ...

Re: clean install fails

I started looking into this and became "usefully sidetracked". With a little luck I should have some positive image-related news soon. That "failed to create hard link" error is not a real problem, by the way. The updater tries to link to a backup, but it fails because the boot v...
