Re: Ubuntu Bionic (Base System)

Having toyed some more there are some 'interesting' changes in the kernel which may make sticking with the LTS 4.4 branch preferable, not least that the internal 'mmc' memory is now identified as 'mmcblk2' and not 'mmcblk0', which I'm almost certain will break a lot o' stuff. Just looking at some of...

Ubuntu Bionic (Base System)

Wanted to drop a little post here to say that I seem to have managed to get a working install of Ubuntu Bionic (the next long-term service release) working on the OpenFrame 1. I've not tested everything yet, but after a few tweaks to the kernel configuration it came to life. It's even running the ve...

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame

I have revisited SQ OS 3 and find that chromium-browser works the way I want it, so not sure why I had issues before. I also have it on internal memory - yippee! Again, I've swapped/bought different jogglers since the last time I was testing this, so maybe the joggler I'm trying it on now is newer....

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame

Cheers, Ronnie - yeah, it's nice to have a few moments in the day to not be in panic mode these days! Thanks for the pointers. I have to say I'm completely out of touch with LMS these days as I switched to using Shairport Sync (through the ShairportOS which I released on here somewhere) when I got A...

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame

Yep, I still use 1.09 for various reasons. Hey johnnygal; out of interest, why do you still run the older version? Only ask because I'm toying with the idea of making a version 4 when the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS release comes out, so wanted to check if I've missed something in v2 or v3. No promises, mind ...

If you're using an OpenPeak OS of any type, there's no sudo. You just do - you're already the root user. :)
Thanks. SSH working. How do i enable apt-get ?
You don't, I'm afraid; not on the OpenPeak OS. There are no repositories that support it.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Don't suppose anyone has made the jump to 16.04? I need bluez5 for something I'm trying and the Bluez5-for-Trusty PPA keeps hanging the box when starting BluetoothD :( I did bash together a CLI version of 16.04 a while ago just for kicks, but never bothered to update things as I've not quite adjust...

Re: Disappearing appshop folder (Resolved)

I'll try to find some time to update the 30300 image and remove the appshop.xml file by default. The main changes between 30291 and 30300 were the removal (commenting out!) of some phone-home elements of the original OS, but not everything could go due to the app shop being live and in use by some p...

Re: Another audio standard, MQA

Would like to hear this format still though Oh, I'd definitely like to hear it - this audio malarkey is actually much more practically aligned to the day job these days than it used to be, so it'd be a great comparison against other formats on some of the speakers I've been kitting work out with re...

Re: Problems playing 48kHz sample rate

IIRC (and I may well not be so don't hold me to this!) the native OS pins the audio output at 44.1kHz in asound.conf. If you're using an external DAC then you may be able to edit that to get it to work, but whether the native OS (which is pretty stripped back) will properly support the device is any...

Re: Another audio standard, MQA

MQA or Master Quality Assured is apparently a new way of packaging audio files in a lossless format. It isn't lossless; it actually uses lossy compression in the high frequencies and adds a sort of 'reconstitution' stream into the audio for an MQA decoder to process. So, my burning question, even t...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & SQPOS)

Is there an issue with the SqueezePlay repository at the moment? I just used the Update menu within SqueezePlay on a Joggler to see if there'd been any updates and it told me I was on version 1.60 but that version E.rr was available. For anyone that thinks it's a good idea to try it - don't! I had ...

Re: birdslikewires.co.uk

Sorry folks - no need for panic! We're having a move to a new server which has not quite gone as planned. A pinch of miscommunication, a shake of misconfiguration and a teaspoon of over-enthusiasm on my part have caused the problem. All of the back-end gubbins for the SQPOS clients is back and fine ...

Of course! Squeezelite! I was planning on making a multi-receiver out of this thing (iOS, Android, Squeezebox) but then things got busy. :)
