Re: Updating SqueezeplayOS

@sixedup Well the first thing to say, is that you obviously know a lot more than I do :) No, I just know different stuff :) I don't know much about linux of any sort, if I find something that works' I stick with it. Not a bad approach at all! This is how I install Squeezelite to use the joggler int...

Re: Updating SqueezeplayOS

Some further thoughts If you want to keep it on the internal ram then I think Ralphy's Squeezeplay is the way to go. Maybe. Its what I'm used to with Roobarbs SQPOS ... but I thought I'd try jivelite/squeezelite too before just going with what I knew :) I use an external usb stick or sd card in a r...

Re: Updating SqueezeplayOS

From some old notes Originally posted by chill View Post - The 'Quit' option on the Jivelite home screen dumps you out of Jivelite, and in my case leaves a terminal screen with some messy video artefacts along the bottom third of the screen. I think that option should be changed to restart JiveLite...

Updating SqueezeplayOS

I've been running SqueezeplayOS ( https://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14 ) on the internal flash of several Jogglers for many years now. It works really well, but does hang from time to time, and is now getting very (VERY) old. I would like to update everything to newer softwar...

Re: Finally cracked it!

Dumb user question - is this heading towards being an updated replacement for the old SqueezeOS 3.03 image that could be installed on the internal flash?

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

OK, from a quick look on my "good" joggler, the sum0 file should be a text file with the Linux kernel boot parameters in it. The startup.nsh file looks like it tells the EFI BIOS where to look for the bootable system. The "good" one has two lines in it: fs1:boot fs0:boot So it lo...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

Yes, it looks like there is some sort of life. But more to do to properly fix it. 1. Could be. I'll try putting Roobarbs reflasher onto the currently working USB stick that correctly runs xubuntu and see if that helps. 2. I'm using 'dd' - I don't have any Windows computers, just Linux and Mac. 3. I ...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

Ok, this is really strange. USB keyboard and Xubuntu USB Key plugged into a USB 2.0 Hub, with that plugged into Joggler. Power on -> ESC repeatedly until keyboard recognised and breaks into boot (can toggle numlock etc). fs0:boot -> about 5 seconds wait with nothing happening -> fs1:boot Grub screen...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

OK , first try to burn Xubuntu to a stick , see if that boots first on your dodgy Joggler then on the one that is OK if that doesn't work .It won't harm your Joggler as it's just booting off the stick . Result is pretty much as expected. The "good" Joggler boots into xubuntu. The "ba...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

On the basis that Joggler wasn't booting I've built Roobarbs Reflash on an 8GB USB key (can't get small ones any more!), with the final OpenPeak/O2 v30300 software, intending to reflash the Joggler to a known state before trying anything more adventurous. The Reflash image and the OpenPeak/O2 image ...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

I felt like I needed to post an update. Of the two Jogglers, one seems to work really well, the other is possibly bricked :-( The "good" one is running the 26635.S3 software, with a few apps added to it (possibly manually rather than via PNP etc). The hardware is in pristine condition. I'm...

Re: Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

Interesting. I didn't expect a hub to support USB audio, but on thinking about it a bit more, I'm not entirely sure why I thought that  As it happens though, I don't need a wireless connection, so (now I know it exists!) I could use the internal "wifi" USB connector to boot from. So...

Recommended setup for "new" Joggler

I've been using a Joggler as my home-office music player for several years now. It's currently running the Version 30300 firmware, and then has Roobarb's Squeezeplay added to the native OS using PnP III (I think!). I feed audio out into a Class T amp with an inbuilt USB DAC. And all works perfectly....

Re: Extending the base OpenPeak firmware

I don't want all of the stuff that PnP3 adds, but I guess I can download it and extract whatever code turns the screen off. But how to compile daemon code (ie cron) for the base (underlying) linux code that OpenPeak are using? I assume that OpenPeak must share their code somewhere to meet their GPL ...

Extending the base OpenPeak firmware

Pretty late to the party, but I've finally updated one of my Jogglers to the new OpenPeak firmware, and I've got it to a state I'm pretty happy with, but I've a couple of areas I'd like to experiment with: controlling the backlight programatically (completely off, as well as varying the brightness),...

Re: Topping amp for Squeezeplay/Joggler?

Yes, the TP30 is still going strong. Sound is great; sweet, clear and musical. As you'd expect for a little 10w chip-amp, it does have it's limitations, but those are almost implicit in this type of tiny amp; they just don't have big current reserves available. That just means that you're never goin...
