Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Ubuntu was getting rather too bloated, so my recent images are all Debian based. Everything works, so it's very easy to use apt to install a desktop environment if you want one. Just use the of-expand command to stretch the filesystem out to fill your drive, then of-install xserver will set you up w...

Just tried the latest one, kernel 6.1.116, and it's fine here. Hopefully it's fixed itself!

To be safe I've removed the older images.

I think @pete on here might be your best bet, I think I remember him running XP for some time.

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

There has been no Bookworm since July 12th, is it broken ? It did break, and I told myself I'd fix it and didn't get chance. Turned out is was just my rudimentary kernel matching which fell over when 6.11 was added. The script would match 6.11 before 6.1, then fall over as there's no .config file f...

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

Did you OCR the command line output? I spotted what appears to be a mistake, but I'm not certain. I'm not near any OpenFrames at the moment (weird, I know) but if I can coax an OF2 into life I'll take a look. In the meantime you could try running the commands by hand - the instructions would be the ...

Haha, easily done! :D

To be fair, it should probably do something more sensible than breaking the networking when it's formatted incorrectly. I shall endeavour to improve it!

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

I never realised there was / is a 'Default' usb stick :) Sorry, I mean the USB stick which is the wifi interface inside the Joggler - it's just a USB adapter plugged into an internal port and is easily swapped for another type. The default is a Ralink RT2700, but you could swap it for something wit...

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

I'm afraid it's working perfectly at this end on both versions running Bookworm with 6.1.98 and Bullseye with 5.10.222. This is with the default RT2700 USB stick though - have you changed yours for an updated model?

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

We've had a little hiccough on the build server for Bookworm, but it's all fixed now.

The build script couldn't find the latest version of the kernel to download, so we hung on 6.1.92 for a while there. Version 6.1.96 is compiling now with all fresh packages. 👍

Re: Best OS for viewing RTSP Stream for IP Camera via Ethernet?

I've done this in the past... I think using mplayer. Just chuck the latest image Debian image on a stick, run sudo of-install mplayer, read the mplayer docs on how to hook up to an RTSP stream and it may well just dump the video feed to the display. At that point there's tonnes of advice out there f...

Re: SqueezePlay for OpenFrame

I'v installed the Ubuntu Bionic image with USB stick and reflash tool to my OF2 device. ... Any Idee what the problem could be? Try it with one of the latest Debian images. I shifted focus from Ubuntu to stock Debian, so I have no idea what state things are in on that image these days. Links should...

Re: SqueezePlay on Debian Bookworm Openframe 2 - my installation

Nice tip on the wireless card, @pete - I tried for ages to get that Broadcom one to work well. It technically works, but performance was always awful unless you used the proprietary driver, which I believe is potentially problematic for me to distribute. Even then it wasn't great. The OpenFrame 2 be...

Re: how to set statistic ip for joggler

If you're using one of my Debian images, update the details in the /boot/netplan.yaml file. More details are here:

https://tecadmin.net/setup-static-ip-ad ... g-netplan/

Reboot and it should detect the changes.

Re: Poll : What OS are you running?

You don't happen to have a copy of Linux Mint that Jools used to compile do you ? Mainly for prosperity but it did work great . Ah, no - I'm afraid not. Did he retire it in favour of Xubuntu? I can't remember. He tends not to quit on stuff (hey, the forum is still here!) so maybe there were problem...

I realise this is an old post... but the usb wifi in my joggler has been getting unreliable - it's running squeezeos (14.04) - what usb wifi stick would work ? (the link above is no longer working) Missed this! You can replace it with pretty much anything with Linux kernel support that will fit. I'...

Re: Debian Bookworm for OpenFrame

1. Do we think that adding the polkit stuff should be part of the "of-install squeezeplay" script, or is it part of upstream Squeezeplay, or something else? Would be good to get that upstream somewhere, but point me in the right direction if I should take that elsewhere! I've thrown that ...
