Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Roobarb. Thanks. Did you remove any graphics or backlight drivers in the new kernels? The OF2 devices with the speakers in the front all boot to a very dimmed screen. Previous kernels were ok. Just wondering what is broken. I have two of such and same issue. But when i load the original files, they...

The "of-expand" command still not working on OF2 devices.
Ooh, good catch. I'll check it out.
Thanks for reporting that, all fixed now with any luck. You can grab an updated version of the script from here and I'll regenerate the images.

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Don't panic folks, links will be down to images for a couple of hours while a new version compiles. I left HPET (High Precision Event Timer) support enabled, which isn't required on the OpenFrames and started to cause issues on the new kernel 5.4, so I decided to remove it from all kernels and let t...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

How would you go about putting a full desktop on it 3.16 will be on a flash drive. Yeah, use an external drive and once you're booted run: of-expand It'll reboot and be resized to the full space on the USB drive. Just don't pull the plug on it until it's finished resizing - once the 'expand' file d...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

could do with optimizing for more speed if it's possible. There's not much more that can be done to eek out more speed; the only thing that's really up there is to get hardware accelerated decoding working - but the payoff is likely to be small given we've already got OpenGL up and running, unless ...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Is there a way to show a clock face screensaver on the joggler with this ubuntu without adding a desktop? Something I can set to run via putty? Yeah, just install xscreensaver. There are a bunch of command line only ones too, but xscreensaver has the biggest selection. You don't need to install a d...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Thank you for all your effort's for the trusty old joggler's. Good till 2023 apparently. Got to find time to play with now. No problem - I like hearing it's useful to people! Yeah, official end of 32-bit support is 2023, but Ubuntu also has an extended programme of support. Though it's a paid-for t...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Woop woop! https://i.imgur.com/vnxUF62.jpg Kernel 5.3 has compiled successfully, so all 'development' builds are now working on that version. If anyone needs anything special adding (or removing) from the kernel, just let me know. See first post for downloads. All broken 5.3 builds have been thrown ...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Dunno why but the build wouldn't stand up to reboots for me scrambling the internal 1Gb or 2Gb eMMC. Thought it was a bad eMMC then updated it with old build and its been fine with constant testing reboots 1-14 days after installation. Am going to try a build and not touch it keeping it at a comman...

Hopefully it'll complete with minimal effort!
Jinxed it. It's doing the 'wrong architecture' problem like the last kernel did because I'm building 32-bit in a chroot on a 64-bit system and it's misidentifying it. Nearly lunchtime, I'll see if I can fix it.

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & SQPOS)

Okay, turns out that quite some time ago the update code on the website broke. It's now fixed, but I'm not going to get chance to look at this again for a bit. Hopefully there's enough back in action for the installation script to work again now - it's certainly generating the correct versions again...

Trusty image? Where are you seeing that? So far as I'm aware, I'm not building for Trusty any more. :)

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

So, given all of the above, how long until SQPOS is brought up to speed with the new image? ;) Hell's teeth. I've not looked at some of that code in over five years. Actually, that's not true. I look at it every few months and think "what a mess, I'm not touching that". But then, it is broken. I ca...
