Re: How to build a Linux image for the Joggler

@roobarb are your modifications/kernel configuration available in a VCS? Git or similar? It would help me to see what changes are needed.from.the default bionic configuration that I could reapply to the tinycore kernel, as presumably the versions are different. I've done a little bit of kernel hacki...

Re: How to build a Linux image for the Joggler

@juggler - 7 and half years later but did you get anywhere with this?

I have experience with tinycore linux but struggled with the kernel compilation / booting on the joggler

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

..snip.. I had a rethink and ended up recompiling the kernel with the drivers enabled, so you can grab it from http://birdslikewires.co.uk/download/joggler/kernel Just fetch the latest one. You'd likely need to recompile the EMGD modules though, so you'll need build-essential packages installed too...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

You could try a read only rootfs in this setup. I've found flashybrid to be very stable on another debian install of mine. RW directories like /tmp and /var are ram mounts, synced back to flash or trashed on reboots.

Its also dead easy to switch to rw mount for apt'ing and the like..

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

Have you had any luck with the drivers? Bingo! Had to compile usb_modeswitch as well as the drivers, but I have a working WNDA3200 in the place of the original RT2770F. The onboard antennae are certainly picking up the local networks too, although I am still running with the screen hanging off at t...

Watch out - I just realised the tiny connectors are the opposite gender.

Just saw your reply, looks like new antennae is in order.

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

Roobarb, I'd be up for setting up a build environment similar to yours. There's some patches for squeezeplay that I'd like to play with and then possibly get incorporated into your work. And of course I want to fix the WIFI issue as I've had to go back to PnP. Maybe we could chat on IRC sometime? H...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

I *think* I've noticed a bug, when you setup networking after first booting SqueezeplayOS, you HAVE to chose Apply Settings & Reboot. If you chose Apply & continue, the networking settings are saved, but things like whether or not you have SSH installed are not remembered. Maybe that's the s...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

Thats odd..I don't use the server on flash, but I don't see how that would have any effect. Its a standard Ubuntu image. What settings is it forgetting?

Are you able to SSH in and post the output of /var/log/squeezeboxserver/server.log
?

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

About the slow hard drive access, I noticed if I used a hub for a hard drive and usb stick on the external port, the performance was truly awful. I'd suggest dropping wifi and using the internal port, or installing to flash.

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler

Hi, SqueezePlay OS is great, I've upgraded my 3 jogglers to use it, however I'm noticing much worse WLAN reception. Getting more timeouts than before with music & synchronized playback, sometimes even while loading the Favourites menu. Nothing has changed in the house's network setup. So it seem...

Re: Boost Native Joggler Volume

Thanks - I'll try again... EDIT: working nicely with some speakers from the JVC micro stereo that the Jogger is replacing :-) I thought I was going to need and external amp but right now I have the Squeezeplay volume just off the max for night time listening. Not loud enough for a party but I have ...

Re: Boost Native Joggler Volume

no they're not separate. it just seems that the internal speakers can't cope with the full output, hence it being limited by the driver's source code. As I said above you should only use this if you're using the headphone/line outputs. If the issue is that the speakers continue making noise while yo...
