Re: Weird unattended sleep/wake behaviour

I had something similar, and asked a question on here about it a while back, as I believed that the Joggler was waking up my new home server in the dead of night. Turns out I was mixing up cause and effect - my server was waking up on its own trying to do backups, and that in turn seemed to wake up...

Weird unattended sleep/wake behaviour

One of my Jogglers has recently started exhibiting weird behaviour during the night - it comes in and out of sleep mode (I run the Android ICS image off USB) at completely random times, making a clicking sound as it does so. I know I can turn off the click in the settings, but it would be nice to kn...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

Clutching at straws a bit here, but is your screen responsive at all on that far right edge? One of mine is less responsive than the other - certain apps cannot be used because it stops registering my finger when it goes to the right hand edge. Just wondering if it's specifically the WiFi option or ...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

I cannot get Wi-Fi to work on this version. Any help appreciated.... The Wi-Fi in settings does not come on...Do I need an app to make it work? WiFi just works fine for me, on both of my Jogglers. I didn't do anything other than turning it on in the settings and selecting my WLAN. When you say it d...

Re: Laptop battery explosion

It's also worth pointing out that "Lithium" just refers to the lithium-based cathode on a very big family of battery chemistries that all have different characteristics (in much the same way that not all "alkaline" disposable batteries perform the same). The make-up of the anode ...

Re: Laptop battery explosion

We had some rack mount UPS units at a place I used to work. After a year or so they started beeping with a 'replace battery' warning. We had to dismantle the entire rack because the cells inside the units had swelled, making it impossible to slide the whole thing out. I left shortly after that, so ...

UPS batteries tend to be lead acid and as such are designed to be kept constantly on charge.
They sure make a mess if you drop one and break the casing though...

Re: Laptop battery explosion

Only just saw this - was the laptop on at the time and the battery left in with the power connected? The LiIon/LiPo battery chargers in laptops are actually pretty sophisticated in that they should shut off when the battery is charged, but the one thing all of these chargers do badly is the ability ...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

A while ago I got a freebie 'eco' button for my PC - a big illuminated green pushbutton on the end of a long USB lead that when installed, allowed me to press it to put the PC to sleep. I wonder if that would work? EDIT: Something like this http://www.nigelsecostore.com/acatalog/Eco_button_pc.html P...

Re: spam

I used to run a couple of phpBB forums and every so often there would be a similar flurry of spammer activity. It's as if there's a spammer forum somewhere (wouldn't it be great to go troll THAT forum, eh? ) where they post exploits for phpBB and every time a new one is found they all go out a...

I'm still amazed to find out that studios don't use ADAT any more. It only seems like yesterday that it was the de facto standard for multi-track digital recording...

Re: My goodness ... the Holy Grail of Minidisc

Yeah, most of the batteries were dead (some still had the orange NiCd chewing-gum batteries!) and some had developed that annoying skipping error so I didn't think I could sell them as 'working'. I remember laying out the players (I seemed to have a particularly large collection of players) before c...

Re: My goodness ... the Holy Grail of Minidisc

Oh dear some of you are going to want to kill me. I just (two weeks ago, over half term!) skipped boxloads of old players, discs and decks! I was a stalwart MD fan from the day they were commercially viable and I went through an astonishing amount of kit! Car, home, portable, you name it. I even too...

Re: Bewildering...

Jogglers would work nicely as a digital photo frame. A few years back purchased a "few" of the Kodak picture digital frames for the relatives such that I could keep one internet picture site up with all of the family pictures. It worked well over the last few years until Kodak bit the dus...

Re: Bewildering...

Bedroom uses PNPIII (with Mint nearby for XBMC) - doubling up as a phone/gadget charger. Now that's an idea! Do you mean you are using the USB port to charge other gadgets? If so, how do you use that AND PNPIII at the same time? Doesn't the flash drive take up the USB port? EDIT: Sorry, I forgot th...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

Hehe good luck and thanks! I appreciate your efforts! I really hope that the problems I have can be fixed by implementing a proper shutdown - the Joggler I have that runs the plain ICS image without anything further installed from the Play store seems to be a lot more resilient to power outages than...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

I quickly installed the free version of Button Saviour over the weekend - the virtual power button just takes me to the lock screen, and there's no means for me to 'double tap' this. Can anybody confirm if the full version of Button Saviour has a separate shutdown button that can activate the shutdo...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

I'm working on adding shutdown support at this very moment. I understand it's a pain not being able to shut ICS down properly (what with all the issues that you mentioned) so I'm trying to find a solution! Oh ok, I wasn't rushing you or anything. I just suddenly thought that maybe I didn't get the ...
