Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

One question: Do I really need to use an keyboard connected to the Joggler to startx on the physical screen, or can I do the described sequence also via telnet? (I am asking, since my Joggler is installed in a wall and getting to the USB slots is a bit difficult....) It comes down to getting X to s...

Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

Out of interest: How do you start X and the Squeezeplay GUI manually? ) Many ways to do it, you just need to get a shell as the user. Next time this happens to you, pop in a usb keyboard, login at the console with your regular user (of normally) so your on the right display. I suspect the easiest i...

Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

jogglerhase, Cool, yep, it is the fact that the audio interface is claimed that makes this work cleanly. Glad that is working. On 3, just out of interest, I did a few updates to older Jogglers recently and I noticed that the startx systemd script for starting X as the Squeezeplay user seems to get b...

Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

@jogglerhase just to respond, sorry, got logged out and lost track of the reply. On the 1st point, nope, you should just see one player if you did it as I have. The SqueezeLite player claims things before the full Jive gets run up, meaning the player code backs off as it sees a player already runnin...

Re: How to break in / enable telnet on a OpenPeak 2 / Telio Touch with disabled USB boot and telnet

With what you have learned about the telnet unlock I think we could put something very useful together for those with locked devices. Want to sort something out? Yes, if you already have a heartbeat server setup maybe we could point this domain onto that? Or I can easily host something similar. Wil...

I'll grab it off the device later, I was going to PM you about adding it if you are still collecting them.

Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

I would also add that the standard Joggler caveat still holds; "not all usb sticks and usb dacs". I did experience some difficulty until I found the "right" combination ;) That is a very good point, nothing about these tweaks improves hardware support directly or makes up for US...

Re: Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

That is a nice looking little DAC board (most of mine are older Topping stuff unless in Pi's). The higher res audio should be fine with the right Squeezelite settings, if you want to use DSD you are going to want to play with the -D setting (DOP, DSD over PCM frames) but that should work, I tried it...

Re: How to break in / enable telnet on a OpenPeak 2 / Telio Touch with disabled USB boot and telnet

Hi niwa, This worked a charm on my setup, a little split DNS and a simple web server was all that was needed. Ended up with a self signed cert on my setup but I don't think there is any attempt at cert (or even protocol) validation going on at all. It seems to respond just fine even if you leave a p...

Re: How to break in / enable telnet on a OpenPeak 2 / Telio Touch with disabled USB boot and telnet

niwa, Playing with this, thanks, on my test devices (a few stock OF1's and the Telio 38510) the heartbeats seem to come in regularly every 2 mins over Ethernet, on the button. Will check if they have some sort of back off on WiFi. My setup is very simple (mongoose answering on 80 and 433, no cert, n...

Re: Looking for original app*.tgz firmware file / help to boot from USB

I was finally able to break in using DNS spoofing and a web server sending commands as reply to the heartbeat. Will create a new thread describing how it works. Awesome, that was the path I was going down (spoofing the app update server) but had not managed to get it working just yet, got distracte...

Re: Looking for original app*.tgz firmware file / help to boot from USB

@niwa, I recently got my hands on an OF2 Telio Touch device that had suffered the later Telio EFI update that nobbles USB boot and telnet/usb upgrades etc. along with most sane ways of recovery. Desoldering the EFI and popping in a socket is not something I plan to try. The old thread here https://w...

Dirty Hack: Running SqueezeLite alongside SqueezePlay on OF Bionic 5.4

Updated: 20/01/22 - Just changed links to use a newer static SqueezeLite build (1.9.9.1392) Warning: This is a bit of a hack, but it is something I have done for a while now. It works well for me and provides stable base for OpenFrame devices with external DACs talking very happily to recent versio...

Re: Joggler Problems (2 Jogglers, different problems)

The First Joggler. This keeps getting a weird problem where I just can't get to the 'Now Playing' screen any more. I press on it, but nothing happens. A reboot results in the audio auto starting, but still unable to get to 'Now Playing'. Seen this loads of times with SqueezePlay/Jive on flash based...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Running the latest 5.4 image on 3 Jogglers with extremal DAC's and seems solid and as reliable as the 3. kernel, not found any regressions, at least in my use case. Can't say I have tried anything exotic or demanding mind you as these devices are either Squeezeplay or Chromium (showing Home Assistan...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Thanks, If you go into Settings > Advanced > Logging there are a ton of options for debug levels of the various elements of SqueezePlay. If you turn relevant ones on and then redirect the output of jive in /opt/squeezeplay/bin/squeezeplay.sh you should be able to catch the cause. It's clearly not th...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Hi roobarb, Been running the Bionic based image on the internal storage of a few Joggler's (reflashed with 4th May image as a latest). That image seems to run very well from the internal storage. Stability has been very good in various use cases with one exception, I mostly run one of the units as a...

Re: What route to Squeeze Nirvana?

Simple really, start with the stock firmware and well tested hacks and see if it suits your SqueezeNeeds ;). Best way to get going is read http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=88 and use that to get SSH going. Once you have that, hop over and read http://birdslikewires.co.uk/arti...
