Re: SqueezePlay OS - logic output when audio playing ?

...A year later, and some minor tweaks. After using Pete's scheme to get Wake-on-LAN working, I found that the power-down scenario forces the AMP on all the time (USB 5V remains present, no way as yet to disable). Not so useful! Also during bootup, the USB LED gets toggled a few times. So a longer t...

Re: Unable to connect to WiFi: CRDA error

It may be that the wireless signal is too weak and it's trying to reinitialise and failing. Sometimes you see odd messages during re-inits that may be unrelated to the actual problem it has. I have various issues with wireless strength due to too many people with conflicting AP's in a nearby tower. ...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Yes, I was impressed by your tenacity adding RTC hardware !

I'm interested in getting WOL going, but don't really want to have to completely rebuild by PNP3 systems - how disruptive is your process for reflashing the BIOS to get a proper MAC and also WOL ?

FIX for NTP and timekeeping issues

I got round to looking at why NTPD wasn't succeeding in keeping my 2 Joggler clocks in sync. ntpdate sets the clock initially but I was having issues when there's no Internet available during boot - the clock never got set. Despite ntpd running, it's not doing anything useful - or not for me on a co...

Re: SqueezePlay OS - logic output when audio playing ?

Thanks for that. I'm happy enough to hide the USB widget behind the amp/speaker, and not mess too much with the joggler innards. And still using venerable Misterhouse which I've extended here and there to support my hardware and the various Squeezeplayers of course (play/stop/auto sync/alarms/reboot...

Re: SqueezePlay OS - logic output when audio playing ?

Thanks. Seems there's no obvious solution out there, so here's what I did for ref in case it helps anyone else. Most amps use more power than one might expect when idling, in mine the big toroid takes 8-9W even even when in standby. With the Joggler running (another 5-6W), that's more than enough 24...

Re: SqueezePlay OS - logic output when audio playing ?

Thanks Pete. Any suggestions on a suitable USB device? I just checked the idea using my venerable Soundblaster MP3+ USB (normally sits on a PiCoreplayer - fine using optical to a cinema amp BTW), but its LED starts flashing as soon as the main OS starts up, and doesn't stop after that, playing or not.

SqueezePlay OS - logic output when audio playing ?

Hi team, Using SqueezePlay OS, I'm looking to generate a logic output when it's playing - to turn an external AMP on and off. I've thought of the possibilities of hardware connected to the IDT sound chip inside - not preferred due to the complexity; a USB sound card with some kind of LED output I ca...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Perhaps best check with vi on the joggler that you don't have a line break somewhere
Also perhaps possible you don't have killall which is in /usr/bin, not part of busybox

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

I should mention that Squeezeplay does occasionally "lose focus", i.e. the Tango GUI takes over the screen, perhaps related to its screensaver, though Squeezeplay is still running in the background, and can be controlled via the web/LMS, so it can look as if the Squeezeplay is dead. I haven't got an...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Hello again, The version of SqueezePlay is the same I think, but there's probably a bug in the Squeezeplay startup script /media/launcher/apps/SqueezePlay/trigger.cgi (used by the icon) which eventually causes memory / process problems - creates multiple backlight control processes, doesn't kill the...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Hi Craig, It doesn't seem to matter when the CIFS mount is done, even if I manually mount the remote filesystem, then kill -HUP <tango PID> so that tango restarts, I get the same CPU use within a few secs. I tried just allowing guest access on the server, and some other mount options, but I'd say it...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

You are spot on. I've just realised what I've done  Great thanks - all good now. FYI I was still losing icons regularly on both PNP 3.5 and 3.6, and have finally found the cause. It seems to have been an SMB/Windows share onto my media server which is a sizeable raid volume (4TB), configured ...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Well OK, but I did start from original Openpeak firmware (Version 30300) (of1_30300_openpeak), then installed 3.6. I did the whole thing twice to confirm - same issue. Call me stupid, but I then went back to the Openpeak yet again, this time I installed 3.5 to be sure, and it works fine as before. V...

Re: PnP III v3.60 July 2017 Update

Thanks for this new image. I'm having some issues unfortunately... Perl seems to be missing from the path (missing from /usr/bin), so the LMS doesn't run. I went back to the stock Openpeak image, then reinstalled OffbeatDave's 3.5 and perl / LMS is there. I've done this a couple of times now. Have I...

Re: PnP III v3.50: Enhance the standard OS - DOWNLOAD HERE!

Sadly no serial console. Switching to it involves a moderate risk of making the Joggler unbootable, so I'm not minded to try on a whim! So I'm asking about the history of it, as newer/more complete would make sense. I see elsewhere in the forum that the 1 or 2 utilities from it have been tried, moun...

Re: CRON

I noticed some discussion about cron (scheduled tasks) a while back, so I built Debian's cron and crontab for the Joggler OS as they appear to be MIA. I've not done anything meaningful with these yet, but attached them in case anyone else wants to do something with them. I'm thinking about periodic ...

I needed to delete the whole file.

Re: PnP III v3.50: Enhance the standard OS - DOWNLOAD HERE!

POWER SAVING... Later... it wasn't that hard actually, the required modules are all there. All you need do is modprobe acpi-cpufreq , which could be added to the init scripts. This gets the ACPI support going, dmesg spits out appropriate messages and it turns out that the ondemand governor is built...
