Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame
Hi Berns Seven year old LMS! deffo time for an update :) http://downloads.slimdevices.com/ I would advise against the version 8 as many of the plugins might not work. If you have the space on the stick then the LMS should install over the top. If really tight for space then ... ronnie Hi Ronnie, Hi...

Re: SqueezePlay OS (Version 3) for OpenFrame
Hi, How is everyone? (As you'll notice, I'm doing fine.) THANKS! First of all a big thanks to all of you making it possible to just be able to write this post. (With a nice touch of combining an O2 joggler, Squeezeplay OS, CCH and Custom Clock, SDT, where else can you find a nifty device that groups...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
Pete, Sorry for late reply. I've been busy with some other stuff, and also with re-executing the procedure to make a Win8.1 install (making needed pictures to complete my report from above. Edits will follow soon). To be honest, I did not touch your archive based NIC approach yet. I have tried to im...

If one would be able to point me to:
- The correct realtek network card driver (not that it is blocking, because wifi works superfine)
- The correct audio driver (there is a constant squeeki sound when running Windows 8.1 and I hope a correct driver will help)

Day 6: Installing on an external host machine This approach assumes you have some spare technology, in particular a USB hard disk that you are prepared to bin if things fail. (There are devices available in store that allow you to connect a particular drive to a usb port. This might be a safer opti...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
I've taken a bit of distance from my computer technology this afternoon. There might be another way out of this. The USB-Drive that I used before on a portable to boot externally is one that I can re-use quite easily (I can copy the content to another drive I have) That USB-Drive, an LG HXD5 320GB c...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
I've been searching all morning for something that looks like what I had done before to boot and run from USB using windows 7 on a regular machine. This is more or less what is in line with what I've done: http://wiki.ucis.nl/Install_Windows_7_on_an_USB_disk#Configuring_Windows_7_to_boot_from_the_US...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
MickChip,
Trouble is that when I use the 1 on the list, I end up with a everlasting boot screen just as when I insert your image.
Where is the difference between what you did and what I did? What is the catch?

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
Hi, Pete, I'm very bad at soldering, so I don't think a PATA disk is an option. I've read the page of Miles Burton, and motivation is way below zero to do that kind of trickery. I'm able to control what the USB hub and devices are doing quite well. It turns out that my ultra old ICYBOX that is holdi...

Day 5: Booting Anew AND Attempt to install from original DVD media Today I first forked into MickChip procedure, and even with a true 128GB SDD USB external cannot get the machine to produce an interface. Only advantage: Writing to the USB SSD happens about 5x faster in comparison with a memory sti...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
Thanks. I'll be forking my esperiment into two separate things now: 1) Try and boot using the MickChip image, also trying to keep the USB alive with a keyboard as suggested (multiple attempts might be needed.) 2) Start from scratch with an ISO distribution (Downloading now, takes quite some time) As...

Re: An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much mor
I would like to give this another go. Hawsey clearly indicates he's been doing virtually the same thing as me. We both ended up with similar results: nothing that satisfies any of us ;-) I must say that trying to re-generate the scrambled screen for the picture was a bit of a trial and error thing. ...

Day 4: attempting the windows boot Today we start from a coreboot/SeaBIOS machine. To get such a machine, refer to post from Day 3 above. STEP 6: Making the actual original MMC copy Let's have a look to see if we're still good on disk configuration: sudo lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT,LABEL IMG_4646.JPG Note: This time, SANDISK is next to UBB (not next to UBB1 as when we labeled it with Windows) just type this command: sudo dd ...

An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler - and much more
An atempt to run Windows 8 on the joggler This atempt running windows on a Joggler is based on fundamental research executed before by other people on the forum related to booting and firmware. The aim is to run Windows (preferably 8.1) on an O2 Joggler. Day 1: 31/07: Enabling the re-use of a memor...
