Re: 24/96 Squeezeplay and External USB DAC

Hi roobarb! Just re-read your earlier post. Doh! seems I misinterpreted. You compile; install; system complains/crashes .. and then no audio ,,, anywhere. Yes? Seems to me that you are halfway there, having no analogue output (a bonus on the Joggler)! :-) Shooting at clutched straws in digital darkn...

Re: 24/96 Squeezeplay and External USB DAC

Hi Rhubarb,
I seem to recall that Triode's lovely hack sets all output to digital only .... no speakers .... if that is what you mean by internal hardware.

Cheers!

Re: Installed the Joggler in the wall (p2)

Hi Error, Heel moi! :) Sometimes the direct route is every bit as good. I'm pleased that you like the sound from the little DAC. I've used it in a few projects and (if you can live with 24/96 output) have never been dissapointed. In fact, the Joggler and DAC combo gives my UnitiQute a run for it's m...

Re: soldered 2 extra usb ports, wifi gone??

Hi, I must admit to being a bit confused, but let's see if we can get a handle on this. Hope I'm not shooting way off topic. Removing the USB wifi to fit the DAC that you are using is not necessary, see an easy fix: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/Internal_Sabre_DAC_to_RCA_out Soldering to the DAC r...

Re: LVDS wiring?

Hi Pete, thanks for the info, and sorry for taking so long to get back on the forum. I've managed to dig up the relevant spec sheets, so .... now I only have to decide: 1) how to go about things, and 2) do I want to risk my motherboard. The answer has to be yes and yes, so I'll post if anything usef...

LVDS wiring?

Hi All, I killed a Joggler! There, I've said it. Bloody careless really .... f*****d the motherboard. Sad, but this means that I have a screen, which has been waiting in a drawer for some form of resurection. I bought an AOPEN i965GMT board on fleabay as I want to build a dedicated CD rip station. I...

Re: joggler USB Audio out re - Squeezeplay is this possible?

Olivaar: Just checked out some of the Datasheet (only got as far as P.50). Although it does mention 192, it seems only as input (or am I being dim?). Then: 3.2. SPDIF Output SPDIF_OUT can operate at 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz, 88.2 KHz and 96 KHz as defined in the Intel High Definition Audio Specification wit...

Re: joggler USB Audio out re - Squeezeplay is this possible?

Hi Olivaar, Interesting.. Are you saying that the on-board DAC converts to, or is capable of delivering audio > speaker out at 24/192 quality? Or, is it just that the sound chip can handle 24/192 .... in which case we still need a hi-res capable USB DAC... I have tried lobbing 24/192 files at the jo...

Re: Wonky Win Woes

@ Donfoshizzle: Many thanks for the kind offer, but I got there in the end! It was embarrasingly simple ...just use the patches! I'm down in Canterbury and am still playing happily with a few jogglers. If I'm up your way I'll buy you a coffee (or pint!). Next, I want to try USB out to the new...

Re: Wonky Win Woes

Hi Pete, Off topic I know, but.... With door catch misalignment, I have had good results from: a) loosen the hinge screws a turn, b) put a wedge under the door, lifting it a touch. c) then, simply use longer screws (or beefier thread) on the hinges. Shimms always slip unless you drill/screw through ...

Re: Wonky Win Woes

Hi Pete,
Sounds like good advice, thanks.
Though doing that, I usually end up
1) completely ignoring things outside of my field of vision/thought
2) in the doghouse

Thanks again.

Re: Wonky Win Woes

Hi Pete, Thanks for the quick response. Way above my skill level ...sorry :-) I got an Install ISO: XP08-TinyXP-Rev11-IE8-WMP11-Unattended-Install.iso I get through the WVM installation process http://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/WindowsXP as far as part 4. I just need to know: where and how to apply th...

Wonky Win Woes

Hi all! (And yes, I have read the windows threads!) Months ago, I tried building my own XP following the Wiki. After about 10 attempts I still could not get a bootable image. Trying to download any available pre-built images was frustrating, as they seemed incomplete and would not unzip properly. I ...

Re: Run LMS on Joggler or leave running on Raspberry Pi

Hi Simono, Was wondering if running LMS on the Joggler (Squeezebox OS) would provide benefits as it is essentially on the same box, or whether the one Joggler handling playback and LMS for serving multiple devices would struggle. Jogglers which I have prepared for friends run both SQPOS and LMS easi...

Re: Run LMS on Joggler or leave running on Raspberry Pi

Hi, One setup I use is SQPOS on a Joggler and a Pi running Squeezeplug, both on the wired network. I added an 8Gb USB SSD to the Pi with a pointer in the boot routine to the OS running Squeezeserver on the SSD (something I'd like on a Joggler if do-able). This makes for pretty good response times so...

Re: LMS cache size & symlink?

Thanks Pete, don't know what happened to my post. Anyhow my setup is: Squeezplay OS and LMS with a database of 500 or so albums (network storage) on Joggler #1. This has a USB DAC shoe-horned into it, and I hope to fit an 8GB SSD too (it arrived today!). I had thought it might be possible to free up...

Re: LMS cache size & symlink?

Hi Pete,
Symlink is not what I need, chown is overkill.

So, it seems the best bet is running the OS from a USB SSD as you suggest.

Thanks to all!
