are you running into a hi-fi setup where you play are highish volume levels, the 'noise' I am getting is only when my amp gain is up at around 10 o'clock which is fairly loud levels. But annoying during the quiet passages.

Try disabling power saving on the cpu. Append: intel_idle.max_cstate=0 processor.max_cstate=0 idle=poll to your kernel parameters in grub.cfg.
