Re: Joggler home VPS alternative?

Hope you get well soon!! Broke my ankle once a few years back and ended up not liking the term of anatomically correcting my bone structure. Busted off the tibula and fibula and all of the ligaments. Lots of pins. I did get to watch the surgery for a bit. Ouch! Nothing as serious here just will tak...

Joggler home VPS alternative?

Been a while and while I'm laid up with busted ankle, might get the old Joggler out again and see if can get some more use out of it! So, been doing a lot with my Synology NAS lately but adding all these useful apps and services is really pushing it way beyond it's intended use, and checking the bas...

Re: Not Dead, Just Busy

Congrats on the new baby! I too have newish job and newish baby since my last post, so Joggler projects will have to wait for now, but great too see people are still working on it so hopefully when I get time and inclination, I'll have something new to try on the old Joggler and give it a new lease ...

Re: Xbmc x86 for Android fail

Basically means there is no accelerated graphics support available so it craps out. From: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Supported_hardware XBMC needs a 3D capable GPU graphics hardware controller for all rendering. This is the Achilles heel of our Jogglers, the Intel GMA500 Poulsbo chipset and it's pr...

Re: Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

Just noticed new test build of Android 4.3 is out for the x86 and it boots in Virtualbox ok, so hopefully will get round to trying it on the Joggler shortly... ;) https://photos-1.dropbox.com/t/0/AACWL3iN2Z0TQLi0rwtt7hKnbQGU7zE23iOdB1sZRaAWcA/12/44752051/png/32x32/3/_/1/2/Screenshot%20from%202013-08...

Re: Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

How come there's so little progress on getting Android working on the Joggler in an easy to use way? I want to install Android on the internal memory of my Joggler so my USB slot is free but I'm not sure how to do it Progress is slow die to lack of knowledge and poor support for the graphics chip i...

Re: Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

There's been no new releases since end of Feb https://code.google.com/p/android-x86/downloads/list and no help on the 'support forum' https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!forum/android-x86 (or here for that matter) so we are pretty much stuck until either a newer release appears (which may ...

Re: securely erase Linux directory?

OK if you aren't prepared to open up the box, then it would be more a case of using any suitable command (from a Linux environment) to overwrite the network mapped and attached folder on your host computer. If you don't have Linux you could use a live CD to boot your computer, map the NAS drive then...

Re: securely erase Linux directory?

You are probably limited in what shell functions you have in your Linkstation, but if you have 'shred', that seems to be a good command to overwrite data in a folder. Personally I'd remove the hard drive and completely wipe the whole thing using one of the numerous tools for the job available, but m...

Re: Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

I think that until someone at the Androidx86 project sorts out the EGL graphics issue, it's a non-runner for now. I have tried everything I can think of to get past the boot loop to no avail so far, not much interest or suggestions over at the Androidx86 forums either: https://groups.google.com/d/ms...

Yeah, well it's not us the spammers are after, but the web search engine spiders that crawl the site. any links to their website help them get better search result listings...A load more spam posts this eve, things need to be tightened up a bit if we are to keep them out. If any site help needed, I ...

Re: Solar powered joggler?

Car battery will be 12v (unless they have different cars where you are!), and while you can easily find a car (cigarette lighter) battery to xVdc adapter to suit pretty much anything, the tricky bit is rigging up the solar panels to the battery, with charge regulator, battery protector, fuses etc. e...

Re: Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

Jellybean? Androidx86 Jelly Bean 4.2 to be precise! As the previous Miiju et al Android releases seemed to have stopped coming, I thought I'd have a pop at the latest http://www.android-x86.org release, as after all, our Joggler is simply an x86 computer with touchscreen and internal flash storage,...

Anyone guess what I'm trying to do...?

Initially looking hopeful, but getting boot loop and double image on bootanim so thrashing Google for debug infos, but no reason why it shouldn't work just fine!

I'd also be interested in trying out a Sailfish image, although it does look like a demo right now so of limited use. Lets hope that Sailfish is all it's cracked up to be when it arrives!

Re: Laptop battery explosion

Yoiks! Just this weekend I had to dig out my old (c2004) Acer laptop (in order to use the only available tools (windows!) to re-flash my new Android tablet, but that's another story! >.<), 'luckily', only the hard drive failed on me! /me removes battery from laptop... Good think the Joggler doesn't ...

Re: JazzMod:Source InDev 1 (coming soon)

Looking forward to it! Any reason for Ubuntu *11*.10? Thos Ebuyer budget PC's sure look tempting, if that's what you are going for ;-)

Meanwhile...What's the state of play r.e. Android 4.1.1 Jelly bean and Joggler. It runs great on my 'old' phone, well if 1 year can really be considered old!!!
