Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & SQPOS)
Hi - I've avoided updating my two Squeezeplay-only Jogglers to the later base OS due to comments that the "backlight fully off" screensaver wasn't working properly. Is this now resolved (along with the ALSA resolution)? Keen to update if so, but the backlight glow in a dark bedroom was a b...

Re: SqueezePlay for OpenFrame
Thanks! I've been running the original SqpOS on internal flash very happily for a few years now and will give this a try from USB, either later today or tomorrow - thanks loads for keeping things current. One thought... I run mine with an external USB DAC/Amp (Topping TP30), so the ALSA switching is...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic (Base System)
That's really great news! Thanks loads for keeping the Jogglers alive and healthy. Probably way too early to say for sure, but any idea of storage footprint? Any chance of being able to run Squeezeplay + LMS on the Internal flash of an O2 Joggler for example, or has everything stayed pretty much the...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Thanks! Sadly I'm none the wiser ... where does the squeezelite.sh file come from? I thought it was just a case of downloading the binary to a dir and then running a command line? There isn't a squeezelite.sh script! I simply placed the squeezelite binary into /usr/bin and am running it directly (a...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
Can some kind person guide me through the steps to install and use Squeezelite on the SqpOS? I use squeezelite on a Pi and a Cubieboard, so I'm familiar with the general procedure. 1. Let's assume I have installed squeezelite. Where should I put the command for squeezelite so it starts on boot but ...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
-> Ideally, Squeezelite should be started together with Squeezeplay, but with some sort of logic to check, if the process is already running. Heiner - What's the problem with simply starting squeezelite at boot via .rcS and leaving it running in the background? Doesn't take significant resources wh...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
P.S.: Florca - you can also ignore now all the PM's I send you through various forums.... I hope I did not harrass you too much..... Didn't feel harassed as until I saw this message I hadn't noticed that I'd received a PM...! It's not a difficult install, but I don't run PnP so feel a bit ne...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
It's File Format is Windows Media, and the bitrate is 32kbps CBR. I'm just trying to output through the Joggler's sound device. I have it playing on a SqueezeOS setup with mPlayer installed. Just trying to get it going on a stock OS. OK - that's the problem then... it doesn't support native decode ...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
Still can't make it play Sky Sports News Radio though! Ah! You've found the hidden "quality" filter... More seriously, what's the SSNR sample rate and is that rate natively supported by your output device? There's a new version just posted which supports resampling for non-native rates. P...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
According to the googlecode page it supports AAC radio streams in ADTS format but not MP4 at the moment. http://code.google.com/p/squeezelite/ That was true for an earlier release but the support is now pretty comprehensive for native mp4 / m4a / m4b audio. I've tested it with a wide variety of iTu...

Re: SqueezePlay OS for Joggler
It runs as the 'joggler' user, so it fires up from ~/.xinitrc. Sneaky, eh? ;) Just pop squeezelite after SqueezePlay in there and it should be okay. Ha! would never have guessed at that.... All working perfectly now from boot - thanks for the tip and for developing SqpOS, which fits my needs perfec...

How to start a task after Squeezeplay is running?
A quick, maybe dumb, question... Just converted to SqpOS after several years running on a very old "native + Squeezeplay" build. How is Squeezeplay actually started in SqpOS? I can't see an /etc/init.d script for it or an upstart job? I'm trying to start a squeezelite instance on bootup, b...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
libs.tar.gz Sorry for long silence, but I've been busy at work this week. All of the runtime libraries should go in /usr/lib the underlying files and their symlinks (as from a SqpOS / Debian install) are attached as a gzipped archive: joggler@joggler:~$ tar -czpf libs.tar.gz /usr/lib/libFLA* /usr/l...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
Hi florca; could you also give details on how to implement this similar to your original setup? Not sure I can give you simple, generic "from scratch" instructions as I cheated and simply copied across the missing libs from another Ubuntu system which already had them installed. The other...

Re: Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
It needs libfaad2 for AAC decode, libflac8 & libogg for FLAC, libmad0 for MP3 and libvorbisidec1 for OggVorbis. The absence of a package manager or even dpkg on the native OS finally spurred me to move today from a very ancient native+Squeezeplay setup to installing Roobarb!s SqpOS, which is now...

Native AAC Squeezebox playback working...
Thanks to a new software player developed by "Triode" (author of many excellent Squeezebox Plugins, including the peerless BBC iPlayer plugin) we can now have "native" AAC / MP4 / ADTS playback on the Joggler without a full LMS install. More details are at this thread http://foru...

Re: Topping amp for Squeezeplay/Joggler?
Still very happy with mine after nine+ months, no hum or hiss, drives Wharfedale 9.1s perfectly. Using the USB DAC which sounds much better than the Joggler analogue out. Not measured power consumption but the unvented case never even gets warm, so should be no problem leaving it on 24/7. One thing ...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)
Woo! Another TP30 user! Great, aren't they? :) Yes - really pleased with mine. Drives a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s (were £99 from Superfi) perfectly for a total system cost (with £50 Joggler) of around £210 - best sound-per-pound I've ever seen (heard..)! Well, actually I'm not ! But I have be...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)
This is correct; the libraries used to decode the AAC streams (and definitely the WMA ones!) are not available on the native OS. It should be possible to compile and add them, but it's not something I've ever looked in to as Logitech Media Server normally does all the heavy lifting. It would be som...
