My previously trouble-free kitchen Joggler set up (original P'n'P with a couple of manually installed apps) went into a re-boot loop at the weekend. I bit the bullet and reflashed it using the instructions here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=2&t=120 - so far, so good.
I thought I'd give P'n'P mkII a spin and for most things it was fine but I had to manually install SCP using the instructions here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... +SCP#p4418. Squeezeplay didn't appear as an icon so I installed the birdslikewires version.
I loaded up Squeezebox Server in my PC's browser and ticked the "3rd party Spotify" plugin and restarted the server. The Spotify plugin did not appear in the list of active plugins and, to make matters worse, it disappeared from the list of available 3rd party plugins - no way of re-selecting it.
I thought it might be an ownership/permissions thing so I ran the chown command on joh's post here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... hown#p7783 but substituting the correct path for the PnP mkII Squeezeserver installation. The command failed because "squeezeboxserver" was not recognised as a group.
I decided to reflash and install Squeezeplayer and to try Logitech Media Server from joh's link above, correcting the permissions and editing the boot script to start it at boot up. Unfortunately that didn't work; I couldn't access the server at http://joggler-ip:9000
At this stage, I was desperate to get a working system back (and my beloved Spotify plugin) so I decided to re-flash and re-install gforums' Plug 'n' Pimp, because that's what worked before. Unfortunately, the Squeezeplay and Squeezebox Server files called by the installation script are no longer available and I can't install them using this method anymore.
I don't want to run Squeezebox Server on my PC because it wastes electricity and my iomega NAS doesn't support the installation of Logitech Media Server/Squeezebox Server.
I am now completely flummoxed! I can't install a working version of Squeezebox Server on the Joggler with the correct permissions to install and modify plugins. Can anybody help?

Re: Squeezebox Server woes
Not near a Joggler for a bit but I had a PnP II install which didn't add the Squeezeplay icon once so I just re-did it over the top and it was fine. I've not had any problems with Squeezeserver though with PnP II. Once I've loaded Squeezeplay, I access the Squeezeserver via a PC browser 192.168.2.xx:9000, whereupon it tells me updated plugins are available and I need to restart and away we go.
I've not updated the PnP thread yet, but I have a new version of PnP II with Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 and roobarb's latest Squeezeplay available for download at http://goo.gl/aG2Vk. It's not tested to destruction yet but give it a go if you like. As always, I'd reflash with the classic reflashing tool from birdslikewires.co.uk first!

Re: Squeezebox Server woes
On the new version, does Logitech Media Server have the 'chown' command applied? Even on the original P'n'P this had to be done to save plugin settings.
Although it doesn't mention in my post above, I re-flashed and installed PnP2 four times (reflashing in between), installed birdslikewires' Squeezeplay three of those times and still couldn't get Squeezebox Server to install Spotify. Each time I chose it and clicked "apply", I'd restart the server and the 3rd party Spotify plugin disappeared. It wasn't in the list of active plugins and it disappeared from the list of installable 3rd party ones. Weird!
I'll try the new version tonight and report back. If it works I'll be well chuffed! The rest of PnP2 is great.

Re: Squeezebox Server woes
Hmm, very odd. I've always had intermintent issues installing plugins and having appear and disappear from the list. This was one of the reasons I set up my custom PnP ages ago with the classic BBC iPlayer ones added! The new PnP2 does run the chown command in more than one place to try and ensure it works! I've only every used the BBC ones though so I don't know how others behave.

Re: Squeezebox Server woes
The Spotify plugin requires a user name and password in the plugin's settings, but I couldn't add these when it disappeared from the list.
I'll report back some time tonight to let everyone know how the new PnP2 performs with respect to Spotify. I'm crossing my fingers because in every other respect it is superb!

Superb! I installed the new version tonight and it was a beautiful experience compared to my troubles over the weekend. Everything installed with no missing icons and Logitech Media Server worked as it should. Installed Spotify and it worked first time.
Well done offbeatdave - I couldn't be happier.
