Poll: What do you use on the Native OS?

Post by roobarb! »

Those people who use the Native OS, which features do you use the most? It's the built-in features, rather than add-ons that I'm wondering about - although feel free to mention unofficial apps in the comments.

I've bunched them into groups a little, but hopefully it'll be enough to get a general idea.

If you never use the Native OS, give the last box a tick. Ta!

Traffic, sadly now no longer updated.
Any chance of a hack to connect it to a different live feed?
Cheers

I mostly use xp now as I have yet to find time to learn Linux beyond installing stuff and browsing the web. I spent today trying to get my DJ jogwheels working with a pair of Jogglers. Wiki-wiki-wiki-wah. :D

A pair of Jogglers looks real good in my flight case.

In each room I generally use the native with:
Squeezeplay
xAP - for house automation

central server wise:
xubuntu (buzz's) - i.e. squeezeserver and solar collector server (and trying to get as a weather station server)

Come on Roobarb, spill the beans!!!
What have you got in mind that has inspired this poll?
I'm guessing you are working on some kind of USB bootable Linux variation that is finger friendly and has the simple look, feel and functions of the native OS.
Kind of like a Plug and Pimp for Joli.
Am I warm??? :D

Hehe - well, I was actually looking at a way to run the O2 UI on Ubuntu without any other GUI underneath it. I've pretty much abandoned it though. Tango ran fine, but it was pretty much useless as there are so many apps that wouldn't work (hence asking in this poll). To stop people delving into the command line it would have needed a new Settings app too.

I am not a Flash person, so to me it would be quicker and easier to recreate the whole interface in HTML (there's already a rudimentary version in my Little App Launcher).
