I was googling about to see what people have been doing to make XP more touch friendly and start up faster, some of it could be useful:

there seems to be a program called bootvis for faster startup times
then theres stuff like this for making scroll bars fatter etc http://www.pocketables.net/2007/05/touchscreen_imp.html

thats not your fault, this laptop combined with chrome doesnt seem interested in downloading anything for more than an hour or two
