xbmc crashes (turned out to be eth0 driver issues)

Post by BuZz »

Hi,

if you updated xbmc from my ppa on Ubuntu/Linux Mint/Joli OS within the last few days, and you are having crashes, please do

sudo apt-get remove xbmc.*
sudo apt-get install xbmc

to reinstall the older one. I have removed the problematic build from my ppa now, but it was there for 3-4 days.

argh. it looks as though its something to do with the eth0 driver and not xbmc fault! i also had freezes copying large amounts of data over eth0 within X (although was fine from within terminal without X). anyone else seen this? perhaps I need to look at a driver/firmware update.

ok turns out the vendor ethernet driver fixes this. don't know why I never noticed this before. I will apply this change to all the current images. I had better get a new xbmc uploaded too.
